PSG Edges Olympique de Marseille in a Shootout to Lift Trophee des Champions Season-Opening Trophy in Kuwait.
The Parisian club has now claimed the season-opening trophy on 14 separate times.
The Parisian giants required a stoppage-time equaliser followed by a perfect spot-kick decider to overcome Marseille in the Gulf and secure a fourth straight French Super Cup title.
The European champions seemed to be sailing towards a comfortable win in the match between the Ligue 1 winners and the Coupe de France winners after Ousmane Dembele found the scoring in the opening stages.
Yet, Marseille struck twice in the closing moments to seize a surprise lead. First, the English forward scored from the spot-kick, before Willian Pacho inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.
In a breathtaking turn of fortune, the Portuguese striker grabbed a crucial leveler in the final moments to force the contest into a deciding shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Chevalier then stood as the hero, stopping decisive attempts from Matt O'Riley and Traore.
From the spot, Ramos, the midfielder, the full-back, and Desire Doue all converted with composure for PSG to seal a convincing penalty victory.
Now 14-time winners Paris Saint-Germain, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after achieving a league and cup double, have now won this trophy for the twelfth time in the past 13 years.
