A person who contaminated candy with sleeping medication and distributed them to minors at a summer camp in the region has confessed to sexual crimes against two young males aged nine and ten years old.
The accused was detained after eight children and an older person became sick at Stathern Lodge in the summer month.
The elderly man, from the Nottinghamshire area, admitted guilt to a total of 17 charges when he stood at the judicial center on the end of the week.
Nevertheless, he denied a single sexual charge he was charged with, which was involving a nine-year-old boy.
Ruben was held in detention before a additional proceeding on 28 November.
'Sweet game'
The legal representative, handling the case, described the criminal behavior to the court.
She explained his those affected were under-privileged children who were staying at a summer camp which he ran.
Ruben conducted a "candy game" with the youngsters, the legal counsel explained, in which he would access the children's bedrooms when they were preparing to sleep and tell them to consume candy "as quickly as they can".
She informed the proceedings the defendant had played this game with the children "for many years", and children had previously fallen ill the next day.
She stated the man had been successful in rationalizing this repeatedly as the children being "overexcited from fun", until his stepchild had worries in July 2025.
The legal representative continued: "In the summer" his stepson had worries about the situation, for good reason.
"They resolved" to have a look in the defendant's belongings."
The legal counsel explained materials including baby oil, petroleum jelly and medical needles were discovered, and his stepson contacted the law enforcement about his worries.
She said the defendant went on to engage in the "candy game" with six children that night - that Saturday - and they were everyone unwell the subsequent day.
"The police had not arrived by that time," she stated further.
The regulatory agency, the investigative body, had stated that it was reviewing law enforcement's management of the situation.
Mrs Prior stated the children were having difficulty walking due to their condition, so Ruben's stepson contacted the police once more.
She explained the defendant then played the "treat game" in a space of five minors.
